WHAT IS vbs?
Vacation Bible School at Covenant Presbyterian Church mixes learning with lots of fun! Each evening, we gather together for an opening skit and singing. From there, kids are split into small groups that rotate to various stations. Stations include games, snack, Bible story, cinema, craft & science, and music. At the end of the evening, we gather back together for a closing skit and more singing. There is something for everyone at Covenant's VBS; come check it out! There is no cost to attend and all children age three to those entering fifth grade are welcome. Come for all five nights or for just a few!
hOW DO i SIGN UP?
Advance registration is preferred but walk-ins are always welcome. There is no cost to attend. Sign up here.
Where is VBS at?
VBS is in our building (1025 28th Street in WDM). The stations for VBS are located throughout the church. Some activities will also take place outside so dress your child for that day's weather.
Do adults stay or drop off their children?
Either! It is totally up to the adult. We welcome anyone to stay and join the fun but also have more than enough volunteers to keep your child safe and happy for the evening. All our volunteers are checked and trained against our "Safe Church" policy.
What is VBS Sunday?
VBS Sunday is when the children of VBS lead our worship service. Some will have speaking parts to help tell us all about what they learned and did over the course of the week. All will sing the songs of VBS for us as part of the children's choir. It is a special worship service done completely by the kids. This is a perfect opportunity to invite grandparents and family to see your child shine. Following worship, Covenant's fellowship committee hosts a BBQ style meal for everyone. There are also outside games and water activities for kids of all ages. (Worship is at 10am with meal and activities immediately following.)
What lessons are you teaching this year at vbs?
We purchase our curriculum from GROUP Publishing. To see the themes and lessons for our 2019 VBS, click here.
Can I be a volunteer?
Absolutely! Running a Bible school program takes lots of volunteer hours from lots of different people. We need help before the event as well as during. Anyone sixth grade or older is welcome to volunteer. Helping could include working directly with the kids or doing behind-the-scenes work. For specific details, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
