Pastor nathan williams
I've served as pastor at Covenant since September 2017. As I’ve gotten to know the congregation, I’ve been impressed with the way we support each other in discipleship and service. We’re hoping to reach more deeply into our neighborhood, make more connections with our everyday lives, and grow in the creativity of Christian life together. As a preacher, teacher and pastor, I love to learn more about other people and celebrate the various ways we relate to and serve God.
Before coming to Covenant, I served churches in Cedar Rapids and way up north on the Iron Range of northern Minnesota. I grew up in Iowa, graduating from Creston High School and Grinnell College. I went east to Harvard Divinity School, then spent some time in West Des Moines before I was ordained. Fun fact: I was examined for readiness to be ordained at a Presbytery Meeting in Covenant’s sanctuary.
I come to West Des Moines with my spouse Leanne and two kids, Ian and Ben. When I have free time, you will find me outside running or inside reading, especially science fiction. I’m a quiet, thoughtful geek; a fan of improv; an Eagle Scout; and a lover of the outdoors.
