Guest Speaker Diana Sickles with the local  

Coalition in Support of Hungry Children

 

Diana Sickles, a retired ELCA Lutheran pastor, serves on the Leadership Team for the local Coalition in Support of Hungry Children.  Diana has many exciting updates on evolving local projects and networking potentials including the Backpack Buddies program of the Food Bank of Iowa. She will touch on the World Food Prize Week Iowa Hunger Summit in Des Moines, October 11-14. Bring your questions!

Guest Speaker:  Kathy Mahler from the Berlin Pastoral House in El Salvador.

 

Kathy Mahler works and lives at the Pastoral House in Berlin, El Salvador. She is the integral link between Iowa and El Salvador. She will discuss our partner canton and the relationship between Covenant, Companeros, the Pastoral House, and San Isidro (our canton).  We will be having pupusas (fried tamale-like pancakes), casaminto (beans and rice), curtido (coleslaw), and fruit. A vendor with Salvadorian roots has generously donated their time and food to the cause. The meal before will be a fundraiser for the delegation

BLS-AED Discussion Group with Bob Thompson

         

Who?

          For all Church Members and personnel who have or intend to receive BLS-AED training and any other interested persons.

         

Purpose?

  • Discuss protocol for managing a cardiac event at the church
  • To familiarize trainees and future trainees with our AED and its maintenance
  • To discuss possible outcomes of events
  • Answer any questions
  • To discuss how to keep current and be prepared
  • Discuss information and resources available (reference materials)
