2009-2010 Children & Youth Education Opportunities

Sunday Morning 9:15 - 10:15 AM (Sept. - May)

• Nursery (0 - 2yrs.) - Covenant nursery will be using the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) curriculum series Wee Believe: God's Word for God's People. This series theme is "We Belong to God". The children will be introduced to God's love, God's creation, Moses, the Ten Commandments, Samuel, and Isaiah through age-appropriate Bible stories and activities. The general learning goals for this toddler group are: 1. To know they are loved by God. 2. To know that God loves all of us. 3. To experience the church as a safe, loving place. 4. To hear stories from the Bible. (C11 Classroom)
• Preschool to Kindergarten - The children will be using the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) curriculum series Wee Believe: God's Word for God's People. This series theme is "We Belong to God". The children will be introduced to God's love, God's creation, Moses, the Ten Commandments, Samuel, and Isaiah through age-appropriate Bible stories and activities. The general learning goals for the Preschool-Kindergarten group are: 1. To know they are loves the child. 2. To know that God loves all of us. 3. To experience the church as a safe, loving place. 4. To hear stories from the Bible. 5. To recognize key Bible persons by name. (E1 classroom)
• 1st to 6th grade - The children will be using the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) curriculum series We Believe: God's Word for God's People. This series theme is "Worship Begins". The format of the elementary classes mirrors that of a worship service: Gather in God's Name, Proclaiming God's Word, Respond to God's Word, and Going in Christ's Service. The children will study the sub-themes of: God meets us in creation, God meets us in the law, God's people pray, and God's people worship. The stories they will study include the Ark of the Covenant, King David, and King Solomon. The learning goal is that as children explore the beginnings of worship with the people of Israel, they will gain awareness of worship today. (1st to 3rd grade W2 classroom; 4th to 6th grade W3 classroom)
• Crosstown High Sunday School (7th to 12th Grade) - Bible study geared towards youth aged individuals answering questions regarding faith and the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the Bible. (C4 classroom)

Wednesday Night Classes 6:30-7:30PM [unless otherwise noted] (Sept. - April)

Nursery (0-2 yrs. old) 6:15PM: Covenant nursery will be using activities related to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) - 2009 Children's Mission Yearbook that coordinate with the Wednesday evening children's program. (C11 classroom)
Children (3yrs. old to 6th Grade):
Children's Choir 6:15PM: The children will learn and practice songs, traditional and contemporary, as a choral group which they will perform during the Sunday morning worship once a month starting in October. (W1 classroom)
Covenant Kids: Covenant nursery will be using activities related to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) - 2009 Children's Mission Yearbook with its themes, stories, and activities. This program will resemble that of VBS with a rotational model of stories, crafts, games, and snack. Our children will be exploring missions in other countries as well as our own.
Crosstown High Youth Group (7th Grade to 12th Grade): Crosstown High will gather for a time of socialization, games, and fun. (C4 classroom)

Confirmation Class For all 8th and 9th grade students. This class is offered every other year and will be offered again in 2011.
Nursery There is a nursery provided on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Most other events have nursery on a need-only basis.
